Recording of Wallace's second album began in September 1995, although the 18-month process was frequently interrupted by not only the highly publicized dispute he was tangled up in, but injury and legal trouble, stemming from charges of second-degree harassment and possession of weapons and drugs. While they denied the accusations, Shakur signed onto Death Row Records in 1995, and Bad Boy Records and Death Row, now business rivals, became involved in an intense feud. The same year of Ready to Die's release, Tupac Shakur, his former friend and associate, believed that Wallace, Combs and Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell, had prior knowledge of a robbery in the same recording studio that Wallace and his entourage were in at the time of the incident that resulted in Shakur being shot repeatedly and losing thousands in jewelry. Unfortunately, Wallace became involved in the infamous West Coast/East Coast hip-hop quarrel. Later that year, Wallace gained exposure on a remix to Mary J. However, soon after signing the contract, Combs found himself fired from Uptown and started up a new label, Bad Boy Records, which Wallace quickly became a part of. (His earliest stage name was MC CWest, but he later changed it to Biggie Smalls.) This led to a chain of events that resulted in him teaming up with Uptown Records A&R and record producer Sean "Puffy" Combs. Wallace began rapping as a teenager, which he decided to focus on after a childhood of crime caught up with him. "B.I.G." and "Biggie" were rather apt names, as he stood at 6'3'' and weighed between 300 and 380 pounds. Our guides Dusty and Mel did a great job of sharing many interesting stories and anecdotes about the history of the property, as well as facts about the local ecology and biodiversity while we observed examples right there in the wild. Navigate to the “My Samples” tab in the sidebar and expand the ‘drums’ folder (refer the screenshot above). I am going to create a beat line using a few sound files under the drums section of the samples tab. Let’s begin by experimenting with beat and bassline tracks. There will be simple drum activity provided by a beat/bassline track. The key will be C major, which has no sharp or flat notes. We are going to create a short and simple musical piece in 4/4 time at the default tempo of 140 beats per minute. You can adjust the volume of each track to your heart’s content. The better your PC is, the more capable it can process those sounds as you play them. If you have a lot of these instruments playing at once in your project, you may notice a severe performance hit as the CPU has to process all of these instruments at once. Like samples, selecting each entry will give you a sample of the instrument however, the note played will usually be A4 (two tones below C5).Īlso, the sounds are generated dynamically and will require more CPU power. ![]() ![]() The plugin category with the most instruments is ZynAddSubFX where there are numerous folders containing hundreds of instruments in your repertoire. Here are predefined instruments that have been created using the various plugins. Instrument presets are located in the presets tab. The sound samples are located in the samples tab and are in OGG format. These are accessible from the aforementioned sidebar on the left-hand side. Medieval architecture spain11/6/2023 ![]() The lavishly illustrated essays and catalogue entries present the full spectrum of the art of al-Andalus: intricately carved ivories, metalwork, and ceramics, luxurious textiles, jewelry, arms, marble capitals, stucco panels, and tiles, as well as major monuments of religious and secular architecture such as the Great Mosque of Córdoba, the palace city of Madinat al-Zahra, and the Alhambra. Most of the art and architecture that remains from Islamic Spain was produced for palatine settings and aristocratic patrons representing, as these works do, almost eight centuries of history, they issue from diverse rules and traditions. A significant achievement of this volume, in fact, is that it brings together American and European scholars, two groups that until now have worked largely in isolation from each other. Toward this end, twenty-four international scholars have contributed a wide-ranging series of essays and catalogue entries in which the art, architecture, and cultural climate of al-Andalus are approached from a broad variety of perspectives. Although a small group of scholars pursued the serious study of the arts of Islamic Spain, these arts have for the most part been viewed as brilliant and exotic vestiges of a lost culture, as objects and monuments that left no mark on European tradition.Ī goal of this book, the first publication in over forty years to study the art and architecture of al-Andalus in depth, is to reveal the value of these arts as part of an autonomous culture and also as a presence with deep significance for both Europe and the Islamic world. Physical remoteness gave al-Andalus a privileged place in medieval myths but also separated it from the communities of the east and the west, so that it received only sporadic attention from both worlds. Floating on the western edge of the Mediterranean, cut off from the European continent by jagged mountains, it was geographically isolated from both North Africa and Europe, from Islamic as well as Christian lands. From 711 to 1492 al-Andalus was the occidental frontier of Islam. This volume, which accompanies a major exhibition presented at the Alhambra in Granada and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is devoted to the little-known artistic legacy of Islamic Spain. Although the borders of al-Andalus shifted over the centuries, the Muslims remained a powerful force on the peninsula for almost eight hundred years, until 1492, when they were expelled by Ferdinand and Isabella. ![]() In less than a decade the Muslims brought most of the peninsula under their domination they called the Iberian lands they controlled al-Andalus.
